Las Jornadas de Antropología Visual felicitan a Francisco Palma, miembro de nuestro comité organizador por haber obtenido el segundo lugar en el XXIX Concurso de Fotografía Antropológica organizado por el Departamento de Medios Audiovisuales de la Escuela Nacional de Antropología e Historia. El tema del concurso fue "Visiones actuales sobre la Independencia y la revolución". A continuación publicamos la serie premiada "Imaginarios del Bicentenario" junto con el texto explicativo que acompaña a las fotos. El 15 de septiembre de 2010 los mexicanos conmemoramos el bicentenario del inicio de la independencia y en el zócalo de la Ciudad de México la gente se dio cita para presenciar el comienzo de los festejos y dar “el grito”.
Un segmento de los asistentes se caracterizó para la ocasión, mostrando en su atuendo lo que para ellos representa “lo mexicano” o el “ser mexicano”, evocando personajes históricos y/o contemporáneos, con atuendos de todo tipo, desde vestimentas tradicionales hasta gorros de tipo souvenir.
En cada individuo fue distinto, los símbolos y emblemas patrios se utilizaron de distintas formas y con distintos fines. Identidad, orgullo, protesta, dignidad, inocencia, fueron varios de los sentimientos que las personas proyectaban, algunos concientes, otros no tanto.
El vestido, disfraz, sombrero o máscara se convirtieron en múltiples visiones que cada mexicano tuvo este día. Las representaciones abundaban, convirtiendo al zócalo en un escenario de personajes e imaginarios sobre el bicentenario, un performance involuntario, donde se expresaron sentires individuales y colectivos.
